Trocaire College seeks qualified students who are able to benefit from the educational opportunities available at the College.
Admission to Trocaire College is based on academic metrics. Qualified students are admitted without regard to actual or perceived, race, color, creed, religion, religious practice, national origin, ethnic group, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, age, marital status, military status, veteran status, disability, domestic violence victim status, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by New York State and/or federal non-discrimination laws.
Candidates for admission to the College must meet one of the criteria below:

High School Equivalency Diploma: a passing score on the general comprehensive examination for the state high school equivalency diploma (GED/TASC) and the diploma itself if the student is eligible to receive one.

Home School Program: Completion of an approved homeschool program. Must submit a letter from the Superintendent of the school district in which the student resides, attesting to the student’s completion of a program of home instruction that is the substantial equivalent of a four-year high school program and which meets the requirements set forth in the Requirements of the NYS Commissioner of Education and the Rules of the Board of Regents.
Earned Degree: Official verification of having earned a degree (Associate or Bachelor) from an accredited college or university.
Prior College: Successful completion, as verified by the degree-granting institution, of 24 semester hours as a recognized candidate for a college-level degree distributed in accordance with 8 NYCRR Section 3.47(a)(2)(ii)(d).
Applicants who send in documentation which meets all program requirements will receive a NYS HSE diploma with an official transcript certifying that they were awarded the diploma through the provision, evaluation and acceptance of earned college credit. The NYS HSE diploma is required to meet Admissions requirements.
Other: Evidence of having passed five Regents examinations in the subjects listed in 8 NYCRR Section 3.47(a)(2)(ii)(f)

Course Placement
Prospective students, without a conferred AAS college level degree or above, will be evaluated for course placement based on competency levels in reading, writing, and mathematics. Unless the following criteria are met, students will be placed into developmental coursework as appropriate.
Students achieving the following minimum scores will be exempt from being placed into developmental coursework.

Developmental Courses
Students placed into two or more of the following developmental courses will be required to take GS102 College Success whose course topics include Academic Success, Career Exploration, and Life Skills:. EN095, EN099, MA099, BIO105.
To ensure foundational skills, students must complete all developmental courses before they can register for professional program courses.

Application Decision
Trocaire maintains a rolling admissions policy meaning all electronic applications are processed throughout the calendar year. Some programs have a priority application deadline for both the fall and spring semester start dates (please refer to the Academic page on the College website – https://trocaire.edu/academics/ )
Students will be notified of their application status after all of the admission requirements have been completed and a decision has been made. Applicants are responsible for confirming all forms are completed and forwarded to Info@Trocaire.edu. Applications and all supporting credentials become the property of Trocaire College and will not be returned to the applicant.
High school juniors and seniors interested in taking courses as a non-matriculated students should refer to the College website - www.Trocaire.edu
Applicants who falsify information on their admissions application could result in dismissal from the College.
Readmission
Students who have not been enrolled at Trocaire College for two or more semesters (excluding summer) or have attended another college and wish to return to continue their education at Trocaire, must submit a new electronic application for admission at apply for re-admission. All new transcripts since original application are required for students who reapply.
Additional records of college work attempted or completed after last attendance at Trocaire College must be sent to the Office of Admissions.
A student who is dismissed due to academic standing must sit out for at least 1-year and then follow the readmission policy for all students. If a dismissed student intends to reapply prior to a 1-year leave from the College, they must file an appeal with the Chief Academic Affairs Officer.
A student who is dismissed due to disciplinary reasons at the time of separation from Trocaire College must sit out for at least 1-year and then file an appeal with the Chief Academic Affairs Officer. If a dismissed student intends to reapply prior to a 1-year leave from the College, they must file an appeal with the Dean of Student Success.
Persons with Prior Felony Convictions
Applicants who respond affirmatively to the question of a felony conviction will have their application forwarded to the Dean of Admissions who will convene a standing campus committee review. The committee may request the following:
Applicant authorization for Trocaire College to perform a criminal background check
A copy of the unsuppressed record of arrests and prosecutions (RAP) from the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, or the equivalent document for jurisdictions outside of New York State
If currently on parole or probation status, references from the NYS Department of Correctional Services Division of Parole or the Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, including the name and addresses of parole or probation officers. Parole and probation officials should be questioned as to whether the individual’s admission as a student or participation in the activities/services requested are consistent with the student’s parole or probation conditions or would pose a threat to the safety of the campus community;
A personal interview with the campus committee, if the committee deems it necessary
It is incumbent on the student to provide all information in a timely manner, as failure to do some may delay or preclude participation in the requested activity/program
For students not on parole or probation, two-character references must be submitted to the committee. Acceptable references include employer, teacher, internship / volunteer supervisor, and clergy.
