Many programs require different or additional requirements as outlined below. Students should speak to an Admissions Counselor or to a Program Director prior to registration to ensure they understand the academic requirements and technical standards required for advancement in the program of their choice. 

Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Certificate

Credential

Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in a patient facing, direct patient care Allied Health/Life Sciences program (i.e., Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Exercise Science, Surgical Technology, or Radiologic Technology), where upon degree completion the student obtained a minimum 3.0 CGPA.

Echocardiography – Certificate

Credential

Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in a patient facing, direct patient care Allied Health/Life Sciences program (i.e., Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Exercise Science, Surgical Technology, or Radiologic Technology), where upon degree completion the student obtained a minimum 3.0 CGPA.

Healthcare Informatics – Certificate

Healthcare Informatics – A.A.S. & B.S.

Healthcare Management – B.P.S.

Credential

Baccalaureate or associate degree with a 2.5 CGPA from an Allied Health/Life Sciences program (i.e., Respiratory Therapy, Medical Assisting, Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, Surgical Technology, Nursing, or Radiography)and must have earned a minimum grade of “C” in all healthcare-related courses.

Massage Therapy - Certificate & A.A.S.

Requirement

High School diploma with a minimum CGPA of 75% or minimum GED Diploma score of 145 or its equivalent.

Minimum 2.0 college-level CGPA from last institution attended.

Biology

High School-level biology with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75.

College-level biology with a minimum course grade of (C) or high school with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75.

Medical Assistant - Certificate & A.A.S.

Requirement

1st Time Freshman

High School diploma with a minimum 75% CGPA or minimum GED Diploma score 145 or its equivalent.

Minimum 2.0 college-level CGPA from last institution attended.

Natural Science

High School-level natural science with a minimum course grade or Regents exam of 75.

NURSING - A.A.S. - First Time Freshman

Credential

High School diploma with a minimum CGPA of 85% or GED score of 165 or its equivalent

Biology

High School-level biology with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75.

HESI A2

HESI A2 test score of 75 in each section: math, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

Repeat Courses

Students who have failed a non-nursing course twice and require a third course attempt will not be accepted into nursing without approval by the Dean of Nursing

NURSING - A.A.S. - Transfer/Program Change/Readmission

Credential

2.75 CGPA from all college/university courses completed within the past 5 years at the time of application; average calculated using GPA calculator.

Biology

Minimum course grade of (C) in Biology (college level).

HESI A2

HESI A2 test score of 75 in each section: math, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

Repeat Courses

Students who have failed a non-nursing course twice and require a third course attempt will not be accepted into nursing without approval by the Dean of Nursing

Readmission Requirement

Students dismissed from Trocaire’s or any other college’s nursing Associate or Baccalaureate degree program are not eligible for evaluation of admission into Nursing AAS for four full (fall, spring) semesters after such dismissal; such students may pursue the Practical Nursing Certificate program assuming they meet the other admissions requirements for that program.

NURSING - B.S.

Credential

Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.50 CGPA and a minimum grade of (C) in all nursing courses.

Applicants who have graduated from a non-accredited nursing program, but is approved and registered with the New York State Education Department, are also eligible for admission.

Applicants who have a CGPA below 2.50 may be considered for the Baccalaureate in Nursing Program if they have extensive clinical experiences or extenuating circumstances.

Licensure

Graduates from an Associate’s Degree in Nursing Program who have not yet obtained their nursing license may be admitted to the program and allowed to take only courses offered in the first semester. Students may not progress to second semester nursing courses until proof of licensure has been provided.

Practical Nursing Certificate

Readmission Requirement

Not Applicable

Students dismissed from Trocaire’s or any other institution’s Practical Nursing program are not eligible for evaluation of admission into Practical Nursing for three full (fall, spring) semesters after such dismissal. Such students may pursue a general studies program or another academic program at Trocaire for which they are eligible.

Radiologic Technology – A.A.S.

High School diploma with a minimum CGPA of 85% or minimum GED Diploma score of 165 or its equivalent.

Minimum 2.75 CGPA from last institution attended and minimum grades of (C) in all pre-requisite courses.

Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics

High School-level algebra, biology, chemistry & physics with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75.

College level algebra, biology, chemistry & physics or high school with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75. Most recent score will be used for Admissions.

Age Requirement

Students must be at least 18 years old by the first day of classes.

Surgical Technology A.A.S.

Requirement

Credential

High School diploma with a minimum 85% CGPA or minimum GED Diploma score 165 or its equivalent.

Minimum 2.5 college-level CGPA from last institution attended.

Biology

High School-level biology with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75.

College-level biology with a minimum course grade of (C) in all laboratory science courses or high school with a minimum final course grade or Regents exam of 75. Most recent score will be used for Admissions.

Age Requirement

Students must be at least 18 years old by the first day of classes.

Veterinary Technology - A.A.S.

Requirement

1st Time Freshman

Credential

High School diploma with a minimum CGPA of 85% or minimum GED Diploma score of 165 or its equivalent.

Minimum 2.5 CGPA from all college/university courses completed within the past 5 years at the time of application; average calculated using GPA calculator.

Biology

High School-level biology with a corresponding lab with a minimum course grade or Regents exam of 85% in both the lecture and lab.

College-level biology and corresponding lab with a minimum course grade of (C) in both the lecture and lab.


Chemistry

Minimum of 3 years of high school math and 3 years of high school science. Chemistry strongly recommended.

College-level chemistry with a minimum course grade of (C). Corresponding lab is recommended but not required.

Age Requirement

Students must be at least 18 years old by the first day of the third semester.
